What is Vegan Fur?
First of all, vegan fur is faux fur. It's synthetic and is man made. It is therefore what I like to call 'cruelty-free' because no animals were touched in the process of making this fur. I like to use vegan furs because of the fact that they are cruelty-free.
So what do we have here?
I started making these lovely vegan clutches to use as much of the left over fabric from the Broccoliandcrystals F/W 2014 collection. I think using as many of the scraps and left over fabrics is always an eco-friendly approach to designing. Less waste, the better and that's exactly what I did here.
Why the different colors?
Why not? These faux furs were premade but they were obviously dyed to keep things interesting. And you can tell they have different textures. Like the white vegan fur clutch has 'swirl fur' which is basically where the faux fur was made into a swirl like pattern. The peach vegan fur clutch has a more natural fur texture.
More details about the clutches
In the photos you can see top stitching on the bottom of the clutches. It's because I made pockets for the inside: the phone, lip gloss/keys. I have yet to add the zipper so when you flip the clutch open, you can zip your contents in the bag. There will also be straps added so you can easily wear it over the shoulder.
The inside of the clutches, I used eco-fill fabric (fabric made from recycled water bottle), which was also left over from a collection. The eco-fill fabric makes the inside of the bag soft yet structured.
