What's happening
So since I launched Broccoliandcrystals Kickstarter Project, I've been busy designing my 5 looks for the Emerging Trends BFW! You can support my project on this link, there's only 4 more days to go! But first, read this post.
Progress on the 5 Looks
Here's the first part of the red dress that I started making. The stitch is my own creative approach to 'vegan fur', since my F/W 2015 collection is vegan fur. This red dress is part of the 5 looks for BFW (Boston Fashion Week). By the way I think I'm going to start referencing to Broccoliandcrystals as BAC.
How I created the Vegan Fur Stitch
I got my inspiration from the "Crochet Stitches Encyclopedia" book. There was nothing that resembled fur, so I created my own stitch. I crocheted an even number of stitches, made a single crochet foundation chain, turned and started adding chain loops.
I made a swatch to have the pattern down before I started crocheting. Than I played with different crochet hooks to see which hook worked best with this yarn and for the look I was going for. I ended up using a G/6-4.25 MM crochet hook. It gave the yarn a nice look so it would keep the wearer comfortable wearing the garment. Although I would still wear body con undergarments since it will be a body con dress.
The yarn is organic cotton, fairly traded from South Africa that empowers the community there. It's a blend of bamboo and cotton yarn.

So far things are going great. Although I'm not sure why the Kickstarter Project is taking a while to get the ball rolling, I'm hoping people will start donating asap. So please do donate, here's the link again.
